IN THIS LESSON

Welcome to MS3

Congratulations! You’ve made it to MS3. This is no easy feat. Passing Step 1 takes a lot of discipline and dedication, and in many ways, you’ve overcome some of the worst exams you will take in medical school. Many people say that Step 2 is better than Step 1, and we agree. Focusing on clinically relevant information, instead of on biochemistry and molecular stuff, is much preferred by many students.

Studying in MS3 is much more straightforward than during MS1 and MS2, primarily because you already know much of the medicine there is to know. What you will focus on during MS3 is reinforcing this knowledge and learning more related to assessment, management, and plan. During this time, you will also learn how to best function as part of a multidisciplinary team, working together with other medical professionals while you strengthen your clinical skills (e.g., presentations, physical exam, communication).
